摘要： The past five or so years have been marked by a proliferation of educational initiatives, programmes, and toys designed to introduce children to coding and to develop their skills and interest in computer science. This article takes a critical approach to this movement, focusing specifically on ways dominant discourse surrounding the coding movement constructs children, girls, and coding and puts pressure on parents to assist their children in becoming valuable to neoliberal economies. The first part of the article reviews research concerning children and coding, the STEM skills gap, and gender divides in computer science. This part concludes with a discussion of neoliberal ideologies which frame these areas of debate. The second part analyzes 71 news articles published in a six-month period in 2018 that report on coding initiatives and related toys, including Robotics Engineer Barbie (TM). This part of the article reveals ways these coding initiatives are framed as being essential to the future labour market, as solutions to gender parities in Computer Science fields, and as a way to create confident girls for the future workforce. The article concludes with connections to neoliberal ideologies which frame the role of parenting in the age of digital technologies.

摘要： 大学计算机SPOC混合式教学是我校实行学分制培养方案后,借助THEOL网络教学平台实施的教学改革。文章从改革背景;教学理念;教学过程——设计、实施、考核;教学效果四个方面进行研究。通过合理设计教学单元,优化传统课堂教学,实现SPOC混合式教学。实践证明该项改革满足了学分制下大学计算机差异化的教学需求,提高了学生的应用能力和创新能力。

摘要： 针对高校“学困生”群体,通过对致困因素分析,结合工作实践,根据脱困需求,探索“学困生”精准帮扶机制,提供针对性的精准帮扶脱困组合套餐,助力学生顺利完成大学学业。

摘要： Data deduplication, though being efficient in removing duplicate chunks, introduces chunk fragmentation which decreases restore performance. Rewriting algorithms are proposed to reduce the chunk fragmentation. Delta compression is often used as a complement for data deduplication to further improve storage efficiency. We observe that delta compression introduces a new type of chunk fragmentation stemming from improper delta compression for chunks of which the base chunks are fragmented. The new type of chunk fragmentation severely decreases restore performance and cannot be addressed by existing rewriting algorithms. To address this problem, we propose SDC, a scheme performing post-deduplication delta compression only for the chunks of which the bases can be directly found in the restore cache to eliminate additional disk reads for base chunks, thus avoiding the new type of chunk fragmentation. In addition, self-referenced chunks can be fragmented, which decrease restore performance, and these fragmented chunks can serve as bases to decrease the restore performance repeatedly. We propose a hybrid rewriting scheme for SDC to rewrite such fragmented chunks. Experimental results show that SDC improves the restore performance of the approach that directly performs delta compression after data deduplication by 2.9-16.9x, and achieves more than 95 percent of its compression gains.

摘要： 在计算机学科领域,学术会议是发表论文的重要载体,会议论文甚至比期刊论文更加重要。而计算机学科会议中的程序委员会委员掌控着学术话语权,从科研产出的输入和输出端影响着一所大学计算机学科的科研产出水平,与一所大学的计算机科研产出水平可能有着密切的联系。基于全球1 187所大学的数据,对这些大学所拥有的会议程序委员会委员数量与这些大学的论文数、总被引频次、篇均被引、H指数等科研产出指标进行了相关性实证检验。根据实证结果,建议今后应更加重视计算机学科会议程序委员会委员的战略地位,以此完善现有学科评价体系。

摘要： Computer sciences and related disciplines evolve around developing, evaluating, and applying algorithms. Typically, an algorithm is not developed from scratch, but uses and builds upon existing ones, which often are proposed and published in scholarly articles. The ability to capture this evolution relationship among these algorithms in scientific literature would not only allow us to understand how a particular algorithm is composed, but also shed light on large-scale analysis of algorithmic evolution through different temporal spans and thematic scales. We propose to capture such evolution relationship between two algorithms by investigating the knowledge represented in citation contexts, where authors explain how cited algorithms are used in their works. A set of heterogeneous ensemble machine-learning methods is proposed, where the combination of two base classifiers trained with heterogeneous feature types is used to automatically identify the algorithm usage relationship. The proposed heterogeneous ensemble methods achieve the best average F1 of 0.749 and 0.905 for fine-grained and binary algorithm citation function classification, respectively. The success of this study will allow us to generate a large-scale algorithm citation network from a collection of scholarly documents representing multiple time spans, venues, and fields of study. Such a network will be used as an instrument not only to answer critical questions in algorithm search, such as identifying the most influential and generalizable algorithms, but also to study the evolution of algorithmic development and trends over time.

摘要： I have been a reader of AP exams for many years. I have seen thousands of exams. Over the years I have come up with some ways that I have modified my teaching to meet student's needs. I learn something new every year. Some I have already implemented and others I will be working on in the next few years. Nothing on this is formal research but observations.

摘要： Inclusion is an important component of any culture during normal times and in any environment. During a crisis, it's even more critical to the success of communities and organizations. Higher education in STEAM fields, such as Computer Science, is no exception. As we transition forward into this uncharted pandemic world of remote work and schooling, being extra mindful to create inclusive environments in classrooms, advisory meetings and office hours are needed for maximizing the success of STEAM students. I'll show how inclusive techniques can be used to not just support students but also fellow faculty through these trying times.

摘要： This paper describes the effort that was conducted to promote K-12 Computer Science Education in rural region of IL-MO-IA tri-state area from 2016 to 2019. Computational, logic thinking and problem-solving skills are extremely important for students' success in the future. However, most schools in this rural area do not have enough resources, such as instructors, compared to metropolitan area schools. Efforts were made to provide Computer Science professional development (PD) opportunities, in hybrid format, to instructors who were interested in adopting CS related contents in their classrooms. In-person workshops were hosted during each summer, followed by multiple online sessions throughout the academic year. Our PD topics and contents were selected from various resources, based upon the CS principles framework and CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association) standards. The feedbacks from the participants of these PD activities, based upon yearly surveys, has generally been very positive.
