摘要： As artificial intelligence (AI) grows in popularity and importance—both as a domain within broader computing research and in society at large—increasing focus will need to be paid to the ethical governance of this emerging technology. The attitudes and competencies with respect to AI ethics and policy among post-secondary students studying computer science (CS) are of particular interest, as many of these students will go on to play key roles in the development and deployment of future AI innovations. Despite this population of computer scientists being at the forefront of learning about and using AI tools, their attitudes towards AI remain understudied in the literature. In an effort to begin to close this gap, in fall 2024 we fielded a survey (n = 117) to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in CS courses at a large public university in the United States to assess their attitudes towards the nascent fields of AI ethics and policy. Additionally, we conducted one-on-one follow-up interviews with 13 students to elicit more in-depth responses on topics such as the use of AI tools in the classroom, ethical impacts of AI, and government regulation of AI. In this paper, we describe the findings of both the survey and interviews, drawing parallels and contrasts to broader public opinion polling in the United States. We conclude by evaluating the implications of CS student attitudes on the future of AI education and governance. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

摘要： A main challenge faced by non-profit organisations providing computer science education to under-represented groups are the high drop-out rates. This issue arises from various factors affecting both students and teachers, such as the one-size-fits-all approach of many lessons. Enhancing social inclusion in the learning process could help reduce these drop-out rates. We present JsStories, a tool designed to help students learn JavaScript through interactive stories. The development of JsStories has been informed by existing literature on storytelling for inclusion and insights gained from a visit to HackYourFuture Belgium (HYFBE), a non-profit organisation that teaches web development to refugees and migrants. To lower barriers to entry and maximise the feeling of connection to the story, we incorporated narratives from HYFBE alumni. Further, we adhered to educational best practices by applying the PRIMM principles and offering level-appropriate content based on knowledge graphs. JsStories has been demonstrated, evaluated and communicated to the different stakeholders through interviews and a survey, enabling us to identify future directions for story-based learning solutions. 摘要： Australian data encompassing 1910-2022, by year and state, were analyzed to estimate the effect of capital punishment on homicide rates. Our estimates showed that capital punishment had a negative and significant effect on homicides. In some specifications, the estimates implied that an execution was associated with 12.68 fewer homicides;whereas in other specifications, each execution reduced the number of homicides by less than one. The results are stable across different model specifications and subsamples. However, we cannot reject the hypothesis that the deterrent effect of capital punishment being legal is the same as that of mandatory life sentences with mandatory minimum non-parole periods. Thus, our results imply lengthy sentences serve as just as strong a deterrent as capital punishment.

摘要： The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into computer science (CS) education is evolving, yet its specific application in database instruction remains underexplored. This systematic review analyzes 31 empirical studies published between 2020 and 2025, examining how AI applications support teaching and learning in CS, with an emphasis on database education. Following the PRISMA methodology, the review categorizes AI applications according to instructional design models, roles, actions, benefits, and challenges. Findings indicate that AI tools, particularly chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems, and code generators, effectively support personalized instruction, immediate feedback, and interactive problem-solving across CS and database-specific contexts. However, challenges persist, including AI inaccuracies, biases, student dependency in AI, and academic integrity risks. The review also identifies a shift in programming education as AI reshapes software development practices, prompting a need to align curricula with evolving industry expectations. Despite growing attention to AI applications in programming education, database-related research remains limited. This review highlights the necessity for further empirical investigations specifically in database instruction, including more extensive studies addressing AI-driven pedagogical strategies and their long-term impacts. The results suggest that careful integration of AI tools can complement traditional instruction, emphasizing the critical role of human educators in achieving meaningful and effective learning outcomes.

摘要： 计算机科学与技术专业作为新工科建设的重要领域,其人才培养质量尤为重要。论文以湘南学院计算机科学与技术专业为例,剖析了传统校企协同育人模式现状及问题,并提出了基于“AI+双元驱动”模型的校企协同育人模式的创新策略,包括课程体系重构、实践教学强化、评价体系改革和师资队伍建设等方面。实践数据显示,该模式提升了人才培养质量、显现了产业服务能力、优化了教育生态。
