Are we meant to do something more than scientists of the environment who have borrowed theory from contributing disciplines and devoted themselves to "problem-solving" approaches, without a major concern for theory and method? A Companion to Environmental Geography will likely become a landmark, not only for having put forward the basics of a potentially emergent subfield in geography but also because of its contribution to the development of an agenda for geography at large, concerning both the conversation across the divide and geography's current entanglements with other scientific fields. [...] the volume will help clarify the way geography may choose to institutionally approach funding sources, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom, where most research funds are located and most geographical research is being carried out.
