摘要： 近日，英国玩具杂志《玩具资讯》在全国的玩具零售商中随机抽取780家，就2013年的玩具业情况及2014年的前景进行电话访问，结果显示：81．25％的商家对今年有信心；50％表示去年的生意情况要比2012年好；68．75％透露2013年圣诞节状况要比2012年同期有所改善；13．75％将线上销售视作最大的挑战。

摘要： In 2011, East West Players, Los Angeles’s oldest Asian American theatre company, announced a new playwriting competition called “Face of the Future.” The competition called for plays that could address the issues that seemed most pressing to the Asian American community: multiracial or biracial identity, transnational diasporas and travel, the interaction between vastly different cultures in a multicultural space—in short, the ever-increasing diversity of experience that Asian American identity is under pressure to represent.

摘要： Pulvinaria urbicola Cockerell, a pulvinariine soft scale (Hemiptera: Coccidae), is a broad host-plant generalist, produces honeydew and is commonly tended by ants, including the invasive yellow crazy ant Anoplolepis gracilipes Smith and big-headed ant Pheidole megacephala (Fabricius). Pu. urbicola is implicated in dieback of forest dominated by Pisonia grandis (Nyctaginaceae) on many Indo-Pacific islands. Here we report detection of Pu. urbicola on Christmas Island (Indian Ocean), describe the potential impacts of the association of this trophobiont with introduced ants, and briefly outline biosecurity and management issues. On Christmas Island, Pu. urbicola represents a threat to stands of Pi. grandis, potentially threatens the dominant forest tree Pi. umbellifera, and could exacerbate supercolony formation and impacts of the yellow crazy ant. 摘要： Samuel Barber's early cantata for voices and organ, Christmas Eve, is a previously unstudied area of Barber's childhood output. Utilizing the composer's manuscripts from his time as a student of Sidney Homer, the score has been reconstructed. The reconstruction has revealed Barber's considerable ability to intuit and assimilate the styles of contemporary American sacred choral works of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, while capturing the essence of dramatic musical gesture. It is a work that demonstrates a creative sophistication far beyond the early years of a young composer. By examining this work we are able to observe the artistic energies of a future master composer, celebrated for his works in the vocal canon, as well as consider afresh the composer-performer-audience relationship of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

摘要： Cardisoma guanhumi Latreille, the blue land crab, is overharvested throughout its range, resulting in harvesting regulations in multiple countries/protectorates. A lack of polymorphic markers hampers genetic-based conservation for the species. Here, we present 13 loci, eight of which are polymorphic in the heavily collected populations of C. guanhumi on Andros Island, The Bahamas. Overharvesting of Androsian crabs may have reduced diversity, so both monomorphic and polymorphic loci are presented. Five of the loci were found to be polymorphic in Discoplax celeste, the Christmas Island blue crab.
