A mathematical model of gene blocking, to establish the potential of the genetic code, is described. Structural genes are those code for protein sequences, any sequence of this kind consists of amino acids, whose number is equal to 20, and each of them is coded by different codons. Any codon, or triplet, consists of three letters over a four-letter alphabet, this alphabet is used to write DNA of all living organisms. All the blockings in the theorem contain the same pairs, except where two amino acids are given. A two-component integral characteristic of the standard genetic code is obtained, in which a minimum number of blocking pairs and a maximum number of blocking pairs among the total number of 400 pairs have been established. It shows that out of 400 possible amino acids, no more than 210 pairs can participate in blocking, while the remaining 190 pairs do not, and the codes in these pairs are used to solve other problems.
