摘要：
The Distributed Collaboration project has been established by the National Computational Science Alliance with the purposes of identifying the requirements and coding issues associated with managing a reasonably sized third-party code using a contemporary Java-based environment, and suggesting prototypical tools that support such distributed collaboration. The issues appeared surmountable and the tools appeared both powerful and convenient. Overall, the project enjoyed a uniformly enthusiastic reception from the engineers and scientists who have seen preliminary demonstrations.
