Recent years have witnessed an increment in the morbidity of neurological diseases, with the trend of aging population, ever-increasing pressure of working and living on human beings and the deterioration of our living environment. How to improve medical students’ ability to independently analyze and diagnose the neurological diseases and effectively help them master the basic theories of nerve system, which aims to well prepare the students for their future clinical work, is a critical problem of teaching in neurology. Flipped classroom is a new teaching model whose defining characteristic is 'flipping' the traditional learning process with difficult and over-loaded materials. In the teaching process of neurology, the 'Flipped Classroom' model, based on micro-course, delivers teaching materials primarily outside of the classroom while internalizes the specialized knowledge in class through exploration and practice. The program was proved to be able to solve the problems which rise from the traditional style of teaching such as insufficient class schedules and boring contents, significantly motivate the study interest and enthusiasm, enhance self-directed leaning ability and efficiency, foster competitive talents, lead to improvement of teaching effect. We demonstrated that the program consolidates the foundation of fostering competitive medical talents and provides instructive experiences for other medical schools colleges and universities.
